Kennedy Center Parade for the Opening of ’The Reach’

Performers to include: Lubana Al-Quntar, Hall Williams Band, Kazaxe, Ladygod, Soka Tribe, Mariachi El Rey, LeeAnet Noble & Team Vicious, Christina Piazza & Paul Bachmann, Eastern High School Drumline, and The President’s Own Marine Band

Guest artists to include: Nona Hendryx, Andrew Ondrecjak, The Griggs Brothers, Marlon Taylor-Wiles, Laura Anderson Barbata, Sheldon Scott, Stephanie Mecedes, Vanessa German, Hoesy Corona, and others

To open the REACH, the Kennedy Center gathers artists from far-flung corners of the artistic landscape together with young people to walk, march, and dance into the future in this parade curated by multi-disciplinary visual and performance artist Carrie Mae Weems, in collaboration with David Ross of The MusicianShip and Funk Parade.


All events are free; timed-entry passes are required for festival entry. You may obtain passes online at, by phone at (202) 467-4600, or in person at the Box Office. Passes grant you access to the campus but do not guarantee entry to any specific event. Admittance to events will be first-come, first-served until venue capacity has been reached. Some events may require pre-registration. Refer to the event description for more information. Programs and artists subject to change.
